Fuel stop build starts

September 3, 2010 INNER WEST COURIER
Work is about to start on a controversial boat refuelling station at White Bay.

Bailey's Marine Fuels Australia have signed the lease on the $8 million facility, which was announced by then-planning minister Kristina Keneally in June last year. Leichhardt Council had unanimously opposed the terminal. Mayor Jamie Parker said he was sad the land would not become public space.

"We're disappointed that the headland identified by Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority as a perfect location for a headland park is being used for this purpose when there are other locations which are more appropriate such as Glebe Island,'' Cr Parker said.
