Good news on Ausgrid tree cutting

We've had some good news on Ausgrid street tree cutting this year.

The strong campaign we ran last year and all of our subsequent work has succeeded in making Ausgrid change their policy. They are now much more engaged with the community when it comes to their proposed work for this year.

Ausgrid has agreed that only trees growing within a one metre safety clearance distance of power lines will be trimmed. In addition, if a tree is expected to be heavily impacted by pruning, Ausgrid staff will liaise with the council prior to starting work.

Ausgrid has admitted that its previous pruning was too harsh and assured residents that it is working to improve its practices.

While this is good news, I will keep working to ensure Ausgrid complies with these promised standards. If you experience any poor quality street tree cutting this year, please let us know so we can make sure the destruction we saw last year never happens again.

What times we live in ? We shouldn’t have to tell anyone to stop butchering the street treas…should we?
I would like to see money spent on " doing a Newtown " No poles at all and so no wires, They all went underground decades ago and what a difference it made to the high street over there.
