Jamie Parker MP and Greens Member for Newtown, Jenny Leong MP, have co-signed the following submission to UrbanGrowth NSW stating their objections to the proposed overdevelopment of Taverners Hill, Leichhardt and Camperdown precincts.

The Liberal State Government is proposing an enormous overdevelopment of our local community which will make public transport less accessible, overwhelm local services and impose up to 12-storey buildings in residential streets. The projected population is likely to increase ten-fold.

It was another big week in Parliament: taking a stand against the erosion of civil rights in the anti-terror legislation, opposing WestConnex, promoting proper planning in the Bays Precinct and the Parramatta Road corridor, opposing the privatisation of the Powerhouse Museum, fighting corruption and raising concerns about the impact of new Strata Laws on vulnerable residents.

Jamie Parker raises Parramatta Female Factory in parliament

Mr JAMIE PARKER (Balmain) [12.46 p.m.]: A few weeks ago, on the steps of this historic Parliament House, I accepted a petition of more than 10,000 signatures calling for the Parramatta Female Factory to be nominated for UNESCO World Heritage listing and for the site to be managed in line with the Burra Charter.
