Rozelle Village towers – too high, too big and too much traffic

The developer of the former Balmain Tigers site has resubmitted a modified design in response to traffic problems highlighted by two government agencies in February 2013.

Greens MP Jamie Parker said:

“The developer of the former Balmain Tigers site has ignored traffic problems highlighted by Transport for NSW and Roads and Maritime Services, instead submitting another proposal to overdevelop the site,” Greens MP Jamie Parker said.

“This proposal ignores community concerns about size, scale and traffic, with just a modest reduction to floor space and building heights.

“The minor changes in this revised proposal fail to adequately address the traffic issues identified by two separate government agencies, while also ignoring concerns about size and scale.

“These changes do nothing to address the fact that this development is fundamentally wrong for the site and the community has already rejected it.

“I’m a long-time supporter of the Tigers and I want to see the club returned to our community but not in the form of a towering development that will overshadow homes, destroy our high street businesses and create traffic chaos,” Mr Parker said.
