Save Wentworth Park

We need to tell the government that Wentworth Park should be kept as an open space for people, not built over for profit.

The government and their developers are eyeing Wentworth Park for redevelopment as part of the Bays Precinct.

Please sign the petition to ask Premier Berejiklian to keep Wentworth Park safe from developers:

Dear Premier,

I urge you to protect Wentworth Park from development by handing it back to the City of Sydney, and expand recreation and sporting facilities in the area, which is already one of the most densely populated in Australia.

    Wentworthpark is a park that is always in use daily on both sides of the raceway one side is used for by two local schools as there lunch time playground and there sports oval and the other side is always used for sports matches. It also used for locals in the area for there pets, children and adults

    The additional pressures on scarce open space generated by urban consolidation and increased population density means – we can’t tolerate any more erosion of parklands and making exclusive use of such lands at the expense of general public access and enjoyment.

    Sydney already lacks open park space. One could not seriously consider making it even less so. That would be simply crazy. Wentworth Park already has drainage problems. High rise housing there would be a disaster.

    It defies commonsense that we would allow our parks and green refuges to be colonised by housing. Where would the children play and how would the city breathe?

    I only ask we get rid of the dog racing track as animal cruelty is not acceptable. Sports are when humans play against humans
