Dear Premier,

The NSW government was presented with the Callan Park Master Plan over three years ago. It was developed by Leichhardt Council with the community, and was designed to protect, preserve and promote the historic Callan Park site.

I am calling on the government to implement the award winning Callan Park Master Plan which would see this wonderful parkland be preserved as a place for recreation, relaxation and mental health recovery. The lack of any decision by the government is very concerning for our community.

It is with only with a Trust within the properly funded Master Plan that the future of Callan park will be secure. I encourage you to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

    Callan Park has languished for years, chopped up by roads and parking, without proper public use being made of its beautiful grounds. It is calling out for some inspired urban planning decisions.

    Dont trust him or his govt. Here in the Hunter, they’re doing their best to destroy Newcastle and the Hunter Valley, flogging contracts off to the big mining foreigners. Privatised our Tafe, our Port, destroyed our trainline to Newcastle, with razor wire running the length from Hamilton Stn,Wickham Stn, Civic Stn. only to give their mates our land to develop. It’s criminal what they can do, and are doing to our country

    Please keep this valuable green and heritage space for residents of the inner west and allow restoration of buildings especially by not for profit organisations providing services and activities for those with mental health issues.

    The people living in the inner west deserve to have Callan Park preserved.The open spaces with such unique historical buildings need to be saved. it is a significant site in a dense city. The security of Callan Park has been promised by many governments in the past and it must be firmly preserved for future generations.

    Enough is enough! The master plan must be secured now. John Howard left the legacy of new parks on Sydney Harbour, Mike Baird this can be your gift to the people of Sydney secure the Master Plan and finalise this great legacy.
