Callan Park Master Plan petition

Dear Premier,

The NSW government was presented with the Callan Park Master Plan over three years ago. It was developed by Leichhardt Council with the community, and was designed to protect, preserve and promote the historic Callan Park site.

I am calling on the government to implement the award winning Callan Park Master Plan which would see this wonderful parkland be preserved as a place for recreation, relaxation and mental health recovery. The lack of any decision by the government is very concerning for our community.

It is with only with a Trust within the properly funded Master Plan that the future of Callan park will be secure. I encourage you to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

    The site contains many wonderful heritage buildings that will be beyond restoration the longer there is no decision on the Master Plan.

    This is long overdue, given the increasing urban density and population increases in the city this Master Plan is needed now more than ever. Let’s not wait another 20 years.

    I may, now, live in Melbourne but I grew up about 5 mins walk from Callan Park and agree it should be protected,preserved and promoted.It is important to the community around it and those need to use the hospitals facilities

    Callan Park site should be preserved for the recreational use of the people of NSW. As the city becomes more and more populated, open spaces and places for public art spaces etc are more and more necessary. As a member of the Australian Society of Authors I attended many meetings in a building on this site. We can never get it back once it has gone.
