Clean politics charter

Our democracy should work for everyone, not just for the corporations who can buy a seat at the table.

I have a plan for a government built for people, not big political donors. Here are six critical steps we can take right now to restore integrity and public confidence in the government:

  1. Ban all corporate political donations
Extend the existing bans on political donations to all corporations, including fossil fuel companies.

  2. Double ICAC funding
Increase funding to ICAC to extend their investigative reach.
  3. Protect whistleblowers
Whistleblowers who disclose to ICAC will be better protected in legislation from criminal, civil or disciplinary liability.

  4. Close the revolving door between big business and government
Legislate a five year ‘cooling-off period‘ for ministers, MPs and their staff before they can work in industries where they had significant dealings.

  5. Extend financial disclosure and transparency
All MPs to fully disclose their financial interests, and those of immediate family members. All lobbying meetings to be documented through publicly available minutes, published online in real time.

  6. Create new criminal offences for corrupt conduct
Introduce new laws to ensure corrupt findings by the ICAC can be easily translated into criminal charges.

Sign the Clean Politics Charter to tell both sides of politics you want a government that works for the people, not corporations.

We need both a strengthened NSW ICAC and also, a federal ICAC, because if there is corruption at state level then there is sure to be corruption at the federal level of government.

Get rid of corrupting influences on our political processes including donations. Do not weaken ICAC by under mining its powers or under funding.

There seems to be a Mafia mentality in many of the Liberal Governments decisions. Over time we have seen funding taken from ICAC, the police force, the tax office etc organisations that are there to up hold the law and seek out corruption and combat it. If this mentality is not stopped the common wealth of the people will be used in ways that are not beneficial to the citizens of Australia and will dwindled to little or nothing.

Over the years I have seen third world countries plundered by corporations I now feel Australia might, if we are governed by Neo Liberals become another country where the many resources of the country do not benefit the citizens but rather big business(there must be a lot of people that fought for a fair and just society that are turning in their graves).
