Funding for schools, art and childcare among grant recipients

Jamie has has secured grant funding of $300,000 for a total of 16 projects as part of the NSW Government’s 2017 Community Building Partnership (CBP) program.

Jamie Parker said:

“I’m delighted to have been able to facilitate this grassroots funding, which will deliver much-needed improvements to local schools, neighbourhood centres and sports clubs among others.

It’s hard working local organisations like these that make our local area so vibrant and special. It’s very rewarding for me to work alongside such committed and passionate people and to be able to help in their efforts to make our area a better place to live for everyone.”

Roxanne McMurray, Manager of Leichhardt Women's Community Health Centre, said:

"We're thrilled our application was successful and thank the NSW Government and our local member for their commitment to improving services for women and girls.

The grant will allow us to help hundreds of women and visitors each year who are elderly, have difficulty walking or use wheelchairs or mobility scooters, it will even help our mums juggling prams.

It will allow us to upgrade our side entrance with an electric gate, allowing year-round access to group activities, classes and counselling, particularly for women with disabilities. It's brilliant!"

Luke Letourneau, Teaching Program Coordinator at Kil.n.it Experimental Ceramics Studio in Glebe said:

"Kil.n.it is thrilled to learn of our successful application for the Community Building Partnership grant.

This grant will fund essential upgrades to our communal workshop space. It will ensure our facilities continue to provide necessary resources for our growing community of experimental artists.

Kil.n.it thanks Jamie Parker and the NSW Government for supporting our organisation to continue making vital contributions to the exciting community of ceramic artists in Sydney."

Yvette Evans, General Manager of Detour House, said:

"The Girls' Refuge is extremely grateful to the NSW Government for its commitment to improving services for young people in need, and our local member for his ongoing support. Our refuge looks after some of the most vulnerable members of the community, young girls aged 13-17, who are unable to live at home or are supported in the community due to trauma and abuse.

This wonderful grant will allow us to renovate our bathrooms which haven't had a makeover in 30 years, and provide a safe, clean environment for many years to come."
