Greens nominee in bid to take state seat (ABC News Online)

The New South Wales Greens have closed nominations for the state seat of Balmain in Sydney's inner-west and only one person has put their name forward. Leichhardt Mayor Jamie Parker is hoping to make history by becoming the first Greens MP in the lower house of NSW Parliament.

Balmain is held by Labor's Verity Firth by a margin of 3.7 per cent, but the Greens are targeting the seat, believing it is likely they will win it at the state election next March.
