HAROLD PARK SUPERMARKET TO REDUCE IN SIZE FOLLOWING COMMUNITY OUTCRY

The developer has submitted amended plans for the Harold Park Tramsheds Development Application, with some encouraging changes. Following strong community opposition to the scale of the proposed supermarket, there has now been a modest reduction in gross floor area of the supermarket from 2700sqm to 2345sqm.

Greens MP Jamie Parker said:

“This is an important first step which shows that our community campaign has had an impact – thank you to all the residents who helped us highlight the impacts of this overdevelopment.

“I congratulate community advocacy group FLAG Harold Park and residents who have forced the developer to listen to community concerns.

“It’s now up to the Councillors on the City of Sydney to reduce the impacts of this application and ensure an appropriate development for the site.

“I am committed to standing up for residents and for an honest, democratic and sustainable planning system in NSW.

“Residents deserve to have a say in planning decisions that directly impact on them,” Mr Parker said.
