Huge public meeting on Western Harbour Tunnel

One of the relatively unknown implications of WestConnex is the plan to build a Western Harbour Tunnel from Rozelle, under the Balmain peninsula, to link to the Warringah Freeway at North Sydney

On Tuesday 8 May, I held a massive public meeting to discuss the government's proposal to turn White Bay into a huge construction site and dumping ground for that project.

The meeting was an incredible success with over 350 attendees, which sends a powerful message to the government that our community cares deeply about the future of White Bay. It was inspiring to see a unanimous resolution approved asking the government to rethink these shortsighted proposals.

It is now vital to write to the Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight objecting to these proposals.

Western Harbour Tunnel information can be found here including a template that you can review before sending your letter. There is more detail on the issue of the trench, contamination and construction here

Hanson Concrete Facility submissions are due Tuesday 15th May and I have provided some detailed information that you can review before sending a submission here

I am absolutely committed to protecting what is special about our community and strongly believe that there are superior alternatives to the Western Harbour Tunnel.

Thank you again to everyone who came along.
