Post Election

Plenty of people have already taken News Ltd hack David Penberthy to task for his false statement that the Greens preferenced Pauline Hanson in the Legislative Council over the Labor Party. Election Analyst Ben Raue has written an article refuting Labor and Penberthy's statements - the NSW Greens did not preference Pauline Hanson.

One of the most critical things we Greens on Leichhardt council have achieved is record investment in community infrastructure like new playing fields and playgrounds as well as increasing child care places and child care facilities in our local community.

I recently signed the "Invest in TAFE for a Better State" 5 point plan alongside Fiona Byrne, Greens candidate for Marrickville, in support of TAFE students and teachers.

As a Leichhardt Greens Councillor for over 11 years, and in my third term as Mayor, I have the experience, passion and commitment to represent you in the NSW Parliament. I have a strong record of involvement in our community and during my term as Mayor Leichhardt Council has delivered record investment in services and infrastructure while maintaining a balanced budget.

I spend a lot of time working with all schools in the local area and I would not want Balmain voters to get the wrong impression on the NSW Greens intentions on education funding.

With less than 3 weeks left until election day we thought we'd take a brief moment to step back and consider the bigger picture of what the Green's stand for and the kinds of open space parks, wilderness and nature areas we want to protect for current and future generations not just in NSW but across Australia.

Earlier today I launched the NSW Greens Rooftop Solar Plan with our energy spokesperson John Kaye MP outside the old White Bay coal fired Power Station . It was fittingly hot and sunny!

We have been asked several questions about the Greens opposing privatisation and yet supporting the privatisely operated light rail line extension to Dulwich Hill and Circular Quay. The Labor Party are keen to highlight their support for the Light Rail but it took local communities, Leichhardt & Sydney Council with the Greens to fight for it!

Our local Clean Up Australia Day coordinator Justine is asking community members to pitch in 2 hours of their time, to help make Mort Bay Park a safer and even more enjoyable place for everyone.
