No WestConnex mid-point tunnel site in Leichhardt

Sign our letter telling the Minister for WestConnex we don't want a damaging and dangerous tunnel site in Leichhardt.

For more details about the proposed mid point tunnel site, please go to http://www.jamieparker.org/tunnel.

Dear Minister

As a member of the local community I believe that the previously proposed Darley Road site is patently unacceptable as a mid point tunnel location for WestConnex.

This mid point tunnel excavation site will remain for up to four years, with significant traffic and safety impacts both on residents and people across the inner west region.

Residents of Leichhardt do not want a drill site. We are highly concerned about the traffic and safety impacts both on local residents and people across the Inner West region. We therefore call on you to cancel any plans to drill at the Darley Road site in Leichhardt.

This is yet another example of the kind of planning on the run which has been characteristic of the flawed WestConnex project since the start, and one more reason why it should be abandoned.

Yours sincerely,

While I now live in Petersham, I lived in Leichhardt for more than 25 years. A WestConnex drill site in Darley Road would have been unacceptable to me for all of those years, and it still is. If WestConnex continues, it will see generations not yet born curse the names of Baird and Berejiklian.

I’m very concerned about the extra construction traffic and pollution being so close to the Billy Kids daycare centre

As a long time resident of Rozelle/Balmain I appreciate more and more the benefits of being part of a community. With the increasing development there is more traffic which the peninsulas barely manages. We do want a drill and excavation site or extra traffic in this community. what we need is a better public transport system – we don’t want WestConnex.

Clean air, bicycle lanes, pedestrian amenity, public recreation spaces and public transport are essential to urban life. Westconnex inner west interchange will poison air locally, encourage private car use that is expensive, polluting and socially isolating. Spending money saved by cancelling westconnex inner west will give all sydneysiders cleaner air, healthier lifestyle and commuting options. There will be cost savings for indivduals, lower state government debt and less use of health services and emergency services for lung damage from the stacks; sedentary illnesses such as obesity, stress and depression; climate change effects such as greater exposure to heat stress, flooding and storm damage.

West CONex – is more about supporting the trucking and fossil fuels industry, rather than giving Sydney the transport Systems it so desperately needs.

West CONex is a 1950’s solution to a 21st century problem and NO WHERE ELSE would that be done- west CONex is the biggest waist of money I have ever heard of.

SO are the next level of slow ways I have recently heard have been annouced.

I fully expect this stupid and short term motorway to be full within LESS than 8 years – WHY WAIST SO MUCH MONEY and remove so many homes for such a short sighted project ????

VERY DISSAPOIONTING – I will NOT and have NOT voted LNP since 2013 and I will NOT be doing so any time soon either
