Read more on Jamie's record to save the Powerhouse
Dear Premier,
I am writing to strongly protest against the sale of the Powerhouse building in Ultimo to property developers. This building is an integral part of Sydney’s unique landscape and should be kept for the public to enjoy.
The Powerhouse Museum is an important part of the city’s cultural life, and to see the building converted into apartments and taken away from the community is a disaster for all Australians.
Nationally significant buildings should be kept in public hands to ensure their preservation and long-term public use, rather than sold off to the highest bidder.
Yours sincerely,

He is ruining the inner west from his Manly base. Cant see any big development plans happening over there
I am sick of seeing Sydney slowly destroyed by this kind of dirty deal.
If everything keeps being privatized then there is no need for government
The living history of the city of Sydney, a relatively new city, is most meaningful to its inhabitants and its visitors when presented as relevant continuity within its evolving and protected architectural fabric. Predating reuse of industrial sites such as the TATE Modern by decades the relocation of our museum to the other side of Harris St into the ingeniously re-purposed and renamed Powerhouse Museum reflected and documented the design and invention and creative vision that shaped Australian national identity throughout the post WW11 second half of the 20th century.
Get private funding to build a build a bigger contemporary local/ global 21st Century interactive extension out west. Keep the 20th Century Powerhouse Museum and its 19th and 20th century collections in Harris St.

Western Sydney already has a Powerhouse Museum in Casula. Perhaps it should be expanded. If Western Sydney would benefit from another Powerhouse location in Western Sydney, then it should be in addition to the Powerhouse Museum in Ultimo – Not as a replacement for the Ultimo museum. There are a huge number of residents who do not live in Western Sydney and who would like the historically important central location, close to Sydney Harbour, to remain.
