Protect Our Street Trees

Irresponsible cutting by Ausgrid has seen trees on our local streets brutally hacked back, reducing them to in many cases nothing more than unsightly stumps. It will be years before these trees recover. Add your name to the campaign to protect our street trees!

This is a disgrace. Spending Billions to put in NBN they should be putting all wires underground!

We need to keep the foliage cover to keep our city cool, provide native habitat, and keep our homes places worth living in.

Having started gardening since I was 11 years old, 3years study of Agriculture @ Coffs Harbour High School & 2 years of study of Horticulture @ West Ryde College of Horticulture with distintions, the contractors who pruned the trees in Lillyfield & Liechhardt were totally incompenant ignorant abortionet butchers who should be charged with wilfull destruction, it remines me of the defoliation in the Vietnam War.

Our neighborhood was recently ‘pruned’… it looks like a hurricane went through. I have never seen such harsh pruning, like kids playing with chainsaws. Are these people trained in any way? I can understand coming home to this if it was a natural disaster ‘an act of god’, out of our control — but completely unacceptable as an ‘act of Ausgrid’

The trees aligning Evans Street have been butchered by Ausgrid and it’s time they were accountable for their blatant disregard to the tree line.

This really upsets me daily as I travel around, the lack of respect for these beautiful of Earth’s gifts. They provide so many benefits for communities I cannot believe they are so destroyed.

I went away on holidays many years ago and all the native trees in Booth St were cut down and they put trees from Africa which are now overgrown and the native birds dont like them and problems parking and opening car doors along with the garden beds a waste of time and money and destruction to cars

I have been appalled by the insensitive ugliness of the tree pruning. It wasn’t pruning; it was destruction.
