Protect our community from overdevelopment: Kolotex-Labelcraft sites, Leichhardt

The Department of Planning & Infrastructure is considering a developer’s request to re-zone the former Kolotex and Labelcraftfactory sites along George Street, Leichhardt, to allow 350 new apartments plus retail and commercial space.

Concerns raised by Kegworth Public School P&C, Leichhardt Council and many local residents include:

• inadequate public consultation

• more traffic and parking problems on suburban streets, particulary close to Kegworth school

• excessive height and scale

• there is already a lack of open space in west Leichhardt

• loss of amenity for nearby residents from overshadowing
