Stop WestConnex blasting under homes

WestConnex is proposing to use rock blasting underneath homes in Leichhardt as part of the M4-M5 Link excavation.

Explosive blasting is inherently risky and produces intense noise and vibrations. It threatens serious damage to properties over and above the damage that is already being caused by conventional tunnelling in our local area.

These risks are especially concerning as the government is forcing residents to fight tooth and nail for any compensation if homes are damaged by this project.

We’ve already defeated their proposal to blast under Annandale, now it’s time to tell the Minister for Transport that our community doesn’t want to risk blasting anywhere along the WestConnex tunnel route.

To the Minister for Transport –

The use of explosives for tunnel exploration is inherently risky and threatens serious damage to properties over and above the damage that is already being caused by conventional tunnelling in our local area.

I call on you to reject any and all proposals made by the WestConnex contractor to use blasting along the tunnel route in Leichhardt, Lilyfield, Annandale and Rozelle.
