Clean politics charter

Our democracy should work for everyone, not just for the corporations who can buy a seat at the table.

I have a plan for a government built for people, not big political donors. Here are six critical steps we can take right now to restore integrity and public confidence in the government:

  1. Ban all corporate political donations
Extend the existing bans on political donations to all corporations, including fossil fuel companies.

  2. Double ICAC funding
Increase funding to ICAC to extend their investigative reach.
  3. Protect whistleblowers
Whistleblowers who disclose to ICAC will be better protected in legislation from criminal, civil or disciplinary liability.

  4. Close the revolving door between big business and government
Legislate a five year ‘cooling-off period‘ for ministers, MPs and their staff before they can work in industries where they had significant dealings.

  5. Extend financial disclosure and transparency
All MPs to fully disclose their financial interests, and those of immediate family members. All lobbying meetings to be documented through publicly available minutes, published online in real time.

  6. Create new criminal offences for corrupt conduct
Introduce new laws to ensure corrupt findings by the ICAC can be easily translated into criminal charges.

Sign the Clean Politics Charter to tell both sides of politics you want a government that works for the people, not corporations.

This government must have some serious skeletons to hide if they are scared of an enables investigator not under their control. If it’s good enough for NSW voters to be investigated, it’s good enough for our very well paid (so called) representatives.

We must STOP Corruption at InnerWest Council. ALL Corruption is bad. There is NO OK level of ‘soft corruption’ for ones friends, medical practitioner, hair dresser, accountant, associates, etc. The level of corruption within parts of InnerWest Council is truly disturbing. There is a Culture supported by some Senior Leadership team members that it is ok to approve illegal or non-compliant works put forward by their favoured associates and parties. Its almost like its an ‘undocumented work benefit of working for InnerWest Council’. This has to stop. The perpetrators need to be held to account. Wayne

I have been asking for a Fed ICAC for a year now. It’s time. Never in the history of our country have we seen such corruption as in the last 4 years. It’s gotten so, the federals are a law unto themselves. They have been so rife with abuse, greed & deceit that they have risked destroying the very foundations of our democracy. The Liberals need to be held accountable for their corruption & abuse of power. I hope the judges are taking note. I want to see some of the big boys go to jail this time. Enough is enough. If the judges don’t step in, our countries on the brink of revolt. Hope the filthy criminals see the damage they have done. I wouldn’t be proud of great wealth anymore. Tends to mean you’re a lying, conniving, criminal. ‘Born to rule’ bullshit – more like the biggest criminal crime syndicate in the history of Australia. Where are our great pillars of Integrity?.. Where are our highest in the land judges in whom we entrust our beloved democracy? We need them now more than ever.

The links between political donations from businesses and political corruption is irrefutable. Putting politicians in jail for corruption is a start, but not the solution. Banning all donations from business is a must, then proceed with the Greens’ Clean Politics Charter.
