Glebe Ferry is here

One of the best ways to make our city more liveable and sustainable is by building a world-class public transport system.

In 2015, we presented a vision for a new inner west ferry network to make trips into the city quicker and easier. Since then we've been working with the community to get it done.

From October, Glebe will have a brand new ferry service!

Thank you to the 4,149 residents who signed our petition or wrote to the Minister in support of this campaign! Your support has sent a powerful message that our community wants more public transport solutions that actually take cars off the road.

The Glebe ferry will be launched as an 'on-demand' service, for a six month trail from October. This means we need to get out and use this service if we want to keep it.

While this is great news for our community, I believe our new Glebe ferry should be permanent, Opal compatible and service a wider network.

Took the ferry from Barangaroo to Blackwattle Bay. It’s too far to walk from the wharf to Harold park. Would be better if the ferry could reach Jubilee Park.

Went to use it to try it out but it’s too far to walk to the wharf from Jubilee Park for the elderly, disabled etc. Would be better accessed I think closer to Glebe Rd.

Took the ferry to Barangaroo today. Friendly helpful crew, great to be on the water, and an excellent addition to our transport system. I agree that an extension to circular quay would be icing on the cake, but if we all build numbers during this trial it will come.

Will the ferry go to Circular Quay? Otherwise it’s about as practical as the monorail!

FERRIES AT ANNANDALE AND WEST BALMAIN

Imagine hopping on a ferry at Annandale or West Balmain and being in the heart of the city within minutes.

In 2020, we won the campaign for a Glebe ferry. Now, we have the opportunity to connect more of our area to the ferry network. New ferries at Annandale and West Balmain will provide a faster, smarter route into the city without adding to the traffic on our roads.

Both Labor and the Liberals want to build more polluting and destructive tollways across Sydney. But we have costed a comprehensive plan for a world-class public transport system that makes getting around our city fast and easy.

Dear Transport Minister,

New inner west ferry services would provide efficient, fast and environmentally sound travel to and from the area for workers, tourists, students, pensioners and the general public.

I therefore ask that the Government build on the success of the Blackwattle Bay ferry and establish a ferry service at Rozelle Bay for the Annandale area and reinstate the ferry at West Balmain.
