Allow dogs into pubs

dogs_cropped.jpg

I'm proposing an amendment to current laws to give the owners of pubs the right to decide whether dogs are allowed into their indoor areas.

More information about dogs in pubs here

Please sign our petition to ask the Premier of NSW to support my legislation allowing pub proprietors to decide if dogs are allowed into pubs.

Dear Premier,

Dog-friendly pubs are a key ingredient of the charm and unique atmosphere in many places in NSW.

The ability to bring a well behaved dog into their establishment is a key driver of custom for many pubs and hotels.

We believe that there’s a strong argument for changing these restrictive laws to allow pub proprietors to have the right to welcome dogs into their establishments, as they can in the UK and parts of Europe.

Please support the proposed changes to the Companion Animals Act to help pubs in NSW become more dog-friendly if they choose to do so.

Yours sincerely,

Dogs are family. We love having the option to take our well behaved dog to the pub. We won’t spend as much in the local area if we don’t have the options, such a shame.

Silly to say there is a health issue, when in Europe and America dogs are routinely included on public transport and in hotels and public places — everyone’s lives are richer and friendlier for it.

Can’t accept that there is a health issue with this, otherwise billions of pet owners around the world would be sick

It is silly to say that its a health and safety issue, dogs spread less disease and illness than children! Have a dog area and a non dog area if you are concerned and ensure the non-dog area is away from kitchen and main serve areas. Many European countries adopted animals inside cafes, transportation, etc and haven’t had an increase in zoonotic diseases or transfers and people can enjoy being out and about with their loved ones. Be a leader on this issue NSW so other states that aren’t as progressive and populated can follow and improve lives, mental health and also your economy with increased patronage of animal lovers ❤️
