No privatisation: keep the Powerhouse petition

Read more on Jamie's record to save the Powerhouse

Dear Premier,

I am writing to strongly protest against the sale of the Powerhouse building in Ultimo to property developers. This building is an integral part of Sydney’s unique landscape and should be kept for the public to enjoy.

The Powerhouse Museum is an important part of the city’s cultural life, and to see the building converted into apartments and taken away from the community is a disaster for all Australians.

Nationally significant buildings should be kept in public hands to ensure their preservation and long-term public use, rather than sold off to the highest bidder.

Yours sincerely,

I’m appalled that this historic building will be caniblalised by developers, the Museum is of important cultural significance both as a building and as a cultural resource, I’m an artist who has visited many, many times, and accessed the Museum Library for research, taken friends and grandchildren, it was a favourite place for my parents to visit, and the visitors I’ve brought are delighted by the unique space and the Powerhouse Collection and exhibits, I would encourage the NSW Government to fund the Museum adequately and see the Museum as a valuable resource for all now and into the future

Liberals always do this. What do you do when you’ve sold off all our historic/iconic buildings? What’s the matter with you lot?

Stop selling off all our assets to developers we don’t have the infrastructure and the inner city is already overcrowded, west is where they need more housing not the inner city.

This museum is for the people. The sale would be a huge loss for the people of Sydney, and yet another win for the developers! We need more places of culture and history and the arts to make the city truly alive, not more apartments.
