No privatisation: keep the Powerhouse petition

Dear Premier,

I am writing to strongly protest against the sale of the Powerhouse building in Ultimo to property developers. This building is an integral part of Sydney’s unique landscape and should be kept for the public to enjoy.

The Powerhouse Museum is an important part of the city’s cultural life, and to see the building converted into apartments and taken away from the community is a disaster for all Australians.

Nationally significant buildings should be kept in public hands to ensure their preservation and long-term public use, rather than sold off to the highest bidder.

    How outrageous, honestly what damage be planned next? Leave Sydney’s existing heritage & culture alone. It feels like Sydney will be nothing but ugly enormous blocks of apartments in 10 years. Is that truly what the Liberal Party want as their legacy ? What a disgrace.

    Dear Premier,


    The Powerhouse belongs to everyone. It is Not yours to sell.


    Do not sell it. If you want to fund arts in Western Sydney I suggest you start by doing it in afterschool programs (very profitable) and use the profits to fund installations and galleries in the school’s local areas.

    I am also appalled at yet another huge site being turned over to apartments. Sydney is becoming unit-ville, boring, choked, homogenous, without supporting infrastructure.
