No privatisation: keep the Powerhouse petition

Read more on Jamie's record to save the Powerhouse

Dear Premier,

I am writing to strongly protest against the sale of the Powerhouse building in Ultimo to property developers. This building is an integral part of Sydney’s unique landscape and should be kept for the public to enjoy.

The Powerhouse Museum is an important part of the city’s cultural life, and to see the building converted into apartments and taken away from the community is a disaster for all Australians.

Nationally significant buildings should be kept in public hands to ensure their preservation and long-term public use, rather than sold off to the highest bidder.

Yours sincerely,

Not only an important attraction for local and overseas visitors but a science/technological resource and an important part of the related precinct (TAFE/UTS/ABC).

Selling off a Sydney icon to build residential buildings that will more then likely hold international uni students is wrong.

Please keep this wonderful museum and resource exactly where it is, perfectly located close to CBD and Darling Harbour. If truly concerned about a ‘cultural desert’ in Western Sydney then if necessary put an offshoot into Paramatta , plenty of opportunity there.

The Power House museum is a wonderful educational and science resource.

Sydney is where children travelling on excursions from the country want to come. The transport is direct either by train plane or bus.

In the interest of knowledge and maintaining or developing a cultural hub why not have two Museums? Keep the Power House were it currently is and a build the new one in Parramatta. There are enough items to fill both many times over.
