Join our Campaign to bring back our local councils!

Dear NSW Parliament,

We call on every NSW MP to commit to legislation that allows residents to vote in a binding de-merger plebiscite in any council that has been forced to merge by the Baird Government.

If a majority of residents support their council standing alone, then the law must provide for a council to be reinstated and a de-merger to occur at the soon as possible.

We make this demand because we believe that the community -- residents and local businesses-- not Mike Baird, should decide the future of their local councils.

We need a democratic process-I am concerned that west Connex will be pushed through in the change over period!! We do not want Westconnex!

It is hard to avoid the conclusion that this was done in such an undemocratic way simply to clear the way for large scale developers to make many millions.

Our community now has no elected representative. The NSW government is riding roughshod over the wishes of the people.

At least we could have been given the choice about Council amalgamations by having a referendum. No such choice with the Baird government. Seems basic principles of democracy have been overlooked.

I heartily agree that it is our democratic right to have the councillors that we voted for. Mike Baird has lost my vote.
