Let the community decide

Join our Campaign to bring back our local councils!

Dear NSW Parliament,

We call on every NSW MP to commit to legislation that allows residents to vote in a binding de-merger plebiscite in any council that has been forced to merge by the Baird Government.

If a majority of residents support their council standing alone, then the law must provide for a council to be reinstated and a de-merger to occur at the soon as possible.

We make this demand because we believe that the community -- residents and local businesses-- not Mike Baird,  should decide the future of their local councils.

    Westconnex is an environmental and financial disaster in the making. It is not too late to stop. White Bay was found to be a mistake. The future will show Westconnex to be the same.

    This is unbelievable! It chills me to the bone. How is it that Baird has been able to unilaterally dismiss our elected representatives – who came from our communities and were accountable to us – and appoint his chosen administrator in order to push through WestConnex, the Bays Precinct overdevelopment, and whatever else. An immediate plebiscite is the only way to put this right.

    I may not live in the inner west, but the forced amalgamations of councils looks like a dirty trick to maximise development everywhere in NSW without any public opposition.
